Henry the 8th was king of england from 1509 to 1547.
he is most commonly known for having 6 wives 2 who he devorced, 2 who he beheaded, oen that lived and one hat died.
His first wife was Catherine of Arragon. She was the princess of wales (previously) and was married to Henry’s older brother Arthur. Arthur passed away 5 months after he married catherine to unknown sources leaving Catherine to fulfill her destiny of being queen by marrying his younger brother Henry. Henry and catherine were married for 24 years until he fell in love with Anne B and devorced Catherine. Catherine was also unable to give Henry a son who would be the next heir to the throne as back then was a patriarchal society (men have power over women so no queens). Catherine and henry couldnt get divorced as the Chruch forbade devorce meaning henry had to take over and stop rome from owning the church. This is how henry became the head of the church.
Anne Boleyn was Henry’s second wife. They were married for 3 years until Anne was beheaded. She coukd only give henry a daughter not a son who lather became the first queen of england (Elizabeth I). She was found for treason agains the king and was beaded on May 19th 1536.
Jane Seymour was henry’s third wife. She and henry were married for a year and had a son who became King (Edward VI) but died two weeks after birth to postnatal complications. She was the only wife of henry to get a funeral.
Anne of Cleves was henrys fourth wife. She sent henry a portrait of herself but aksed the artist who painted it to make her look beautiful. of course henry couldnt deny her beauty so when she came to england he called her a horse!! he only married her because he needed to perform a political allowance with her brother. They never consumated their marrage and later got divorced.
Catherine howard was henrys 5th wife. she married henry when she was 17 and he was 49!! she was later beheaded becasue she commited treason for adultry with her distant cousin.
Catherine Parr was henrys last wife as she outlived him. She had 4 husbands making her the most married queen. She was quite close with his children. Catherine later married Thomas Seymore the brother of Anne later after henry had died.
